I hate to break up the staff meeting but they're here, birthday guests at three o'clock!

Happy birthday to us! I started Aromando Pictures roughly one year ago on my birthday (wow, name something after yourself AND give it your same birthday, narcissist) which was a few days ago.

In the first year, we shot two short films, premiered one of those short films (Murder They Talked About, at The RAT in Brooklyn), launched a website and social media accounts, and I started writing these news posts. I would say, given that six months after creating Aromando Pictures I started a new job and finally started getting some much-needed physical therapy in (ow, my back), it’s been a pretty good year. I do wish I had gotten a few more agenda items done but the past is what it is. On the horizon, I’m working on editing the second of the shorts I shot last year, Kindling Spirits, and that should be premiering in the next couple of months.

The project of ours that I imagine is on most people’s minds is Council of Grievances, for which I ran a crowdfunding campaign to finance. It’s way behind schedule and I feel ashamed because I did collect money to make it happen. (I feel silly even having to say this though obligated none the less: the money has always been sequestered from my personal finances.) I plan on completing that over the summer with a premiere in the fall.

Beyond those two projects, I need to finish the long-gestating short Podcasts. We also need to get The Film Surgeons off the ground, which is the third of the trifecta of shorts that goes with Murder They Talked About and Kindling Spirits as podcast satires. I’d like all of these to be out by the end of 2026! It’s going to be a busy few months.
